Feeling at Home with West Bromwich Albion, Still Laughing at Chelsea and am not talking about the 5-3

West Brom at the Emirates ought make a Saturday for many a Gooner. Oh yes, this is the English Premier League and of late upsets have been part of the afternoon weekend barbecue, but it would be outright greedy for the Arsenal haters fraternity to hope on West Brom making it two wins out of two premier league outings at Ashburton Grove.

Robin Van Persie comes back after his midweek rest from the spotlight, while Arsene Wenger is doing his bit at  protecting his star player by talking up Park and flaunting his riches at the back. With the three center-backs looking good, the decision is whether Per Mertesacker needs a breather and if, as been part of the game plan of late, the defence takes up one of the limited to three substitution slots as Varmaelen (or will it be Koscienly) comes in on later.

The pinky ponky at the back a welcome headache as Arsenal's emaciated goal difference benefits with solid performances at both ends of the pitch, which for me, pretty kills the one man team argument that is being floated with so much zest.

Wonder why the same is not said of Barca when one player has a hand in over 60 goals a season. While Messi gets shortlisted for the FIFA Ballon d'Or Robin gets stick for doing the same for his team.

Average Arshavin and a less patient Wenger

As far as the rest of the team goes, the only real surprise would be if Alex Chamberlain or Ryo gets a start as the team pretty much picks up itself. This,not because of a lack of competition for places,but because as the fans have come to expect since the 8-2, any player who gets picked to wear the red and white does so with pride, their individual qualities and potential just but tools to make that happen.

Thinking of it,it had been a while since I witnessed the jostle for places at Arsenal. Take for instance  that Theo decides to go back to his headless chicken roadrunner days most of us wouldn't mind if say the less prolific Rosicky or hardworking Benayuon takes his place.

Maybe Wenger has become less patient: Consider the curious case of average Arshavin and that nondescript Ivorian Gervinho.

Of the visitors

That man Peter Odemwingie. Probably as good as the teams he has played for- Lille, Lokomotiv Moscow and now WBA. Some argue that just like his National team, the striker of Nigerian descent deserves better. In the two, I find paradigms,one of a penchant for giant killing.

Nigeria will do exactly that. Deny the mighty Argentina a World Cup win only to do just about enough against say Sweden. Two goals last time out at the Emirates a testament to  his abilities.

One to watch out for if he plays, this I say to Santos the likely target of  West Brom Albion attacks tomorrow.

Odemwingie just the man to make true of conventional wisdom of Mertesaker's lack of pace in the English game.

From Russia with love? A finger to that say Chelsea Pitch Owners

Talking of speed, with delight I have watched as Abramovich tried to pull a fast one on the Chelsea Pitch Owners organization. His proposal to buy back the rights basically to the Chelsea Fc name one to laugh at. In a nutshell, Chelsea's (read Abramovich's) attempt a new stadium has hit a rut with the rejection of the offer.

The Fulham local authority has offered Abramovich a shoulder to cry on with claims that it would look into ways of expanding Stamford bridge but as the gist of the proposal so elaborately explained,thanks to a good bunch of copywriters, that route is already a dead end.

John Terry's backing of the Abramovich led proposal aided little probably in testament at his standing with the English society at the moment.

As it stands, Chelsea (read Abramovich) will have to do with the 36,000 capacity Stamford bridge as it is. If the financial fair play rules over come the doubts surrounding them, the yet to prove a worthy return in investment  60 million quid Torres could be the highlight of the white elephant Abramovich Chelsea project.

 The options are: increase the gate charges in a depressed economy for what is yawn inspiring football this in spite of all Villas Boas attempts; win trophies Barcelona style- an even bigger ask; steal another of Manchester United's top management in an attempt at building an impressive marketing strategy that brings in the big bucks of commercial revenue; or hijack Arsenal's extensive scouting network including the much misrepresented and undervalued Wenger youth sustainability project.

The next option would see a Glazer family vs F.C. United of Manchester type of situation where Abamovich would have to leave with his millionaire pals cum Chelsea players to a new stadium only that they would have to leave the Chelsea name behind.

This, the more reason why the 60,000 supporters at the Emirates tomorrow should feel at home and make the team feel at home as with their lungs, they contribute to the Arsenalization project.

My prediction: 3-0 to the Arsenal
